About the position

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a leading global law firm, is seeking to hire an Immigration Paralegal to join its dynamic and collegial immigration practice. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Legal Practice Support and is available in the firm's Washington DC, Dallas, Miami, or San Francisco offices. The firm offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement that allows for both in-office and remote work. The Immigration Paralegal will play a crucial role in assisting attorneys with the preparation and filing of a wide range of immigrant and non-immigrant petitions and applications, with a particular focus on writing-intensive cases such as O-1 and I-140 petitions for Extraordinary Ability, Outstanding Researcher, and National Interest Waiver. The successful candidate will engage in written and oral communication with clients to gather necessary information and documents for the preparation of petitions and applications. They will be responsible for entering, updating, and maintaining data in the immigration case management system, managing their caseload, and ensuring timely completion of work. Additionally, the paralegal will track and manage critical deadlines, run active case workloads, and generate client NIV expiration reports. Participation in team meetings and continuing education programs or seminars is also expected, along with entering and closing time entries in the firm's time recording system. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with preparation and filing of immigrant and non-immigrant petitions and applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Interest in pursuing business immigration as a career.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge or experience with the immigration practice area, preferred.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Attention to detail and good independent judgment.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and work overtime as needed.
  • Strong client-first work ethic.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel within the organization and with external clients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team after initial training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or accredited college or university, preferred.
  • Experience in a law-related work environment.
