About the position

Catholic Charities Atlanta is seeking a dedicated and organized Immigration & Refugee Liaison Paralegal to join our Immigration Legal and Refugee Services program. This full-time position requires a candidate who possesses excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a strong commitment to serving our clients. The successful candidate will work closely with team members and clients, ensuring that all client files, records, and statistics are maintained accurately and confidentially. This role is crucial in supporting the agency's mission to assist immigrants and refugees in navigating the complexities of the legal system. As an Immigration & Refugee Liaison Paralegal, you will be responsible for participating in outreach activities and agency-wide events, fostering a collaborative environment with volunteers, and adhering to all pertinent agency and program policies. You will also be tasked with returning clients' calls and emails to address their concerns and assist in the follow-up of their cases. Your role will involve managing both electronic and paper files, ensuring that all documentation related to client interactions and immigration applications is completed in a timely and professional manner. In addition to maintaining client files, you will conduct audits of these files as assigned and support the Immigration Legal Team and Resettlement Team in providing comprehensive services to clients. Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with team members and staff at Catholic Charities Atlanta is essential. You will also be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all reporting requirements for various oversight bodies, ensuring that all information reported is reliable and well-documented.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accurate and confidential maintenance of client files, records, and statistics.
  • Participate in outreach activities and agency-wide events.
  • Work well with volunteers and integrate them into the team.
  • Adhere to all pertinent agency/program policies and procedures.
  • Return clients' calls and/or emails to address their concerns and assist in case follow-up.
  • Assist with the administrative management of electronic and paper files, including copies, filing, and entering notes.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and professional documentation of case files, including refugee arrival information, intake, case notes, and client interactions.
  • Audit client files as assigned and record the results of the audit.
  • Collaborate with the Immigration Legal Team and Resettlement Team to provide services to clients.
  • Support all team/agency decisions and assist team members whenever possible and appropriate.
  • Complete all reporting requirements for USCCB, DHS, ORR, and other reporting bodies accurately and reliably.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent writing and drafting skills.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with document review and management systems is a plus.
