About the position

The IMPACT Manager for the Department of Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University oversees a multidisciplinary educational outreach program aimed at reducing unintentional injuries and raising awareness about trauma and high-risk behaviors. This role is crucial in supporting the university's mission through the administration of the IMPACT program, which includes staff supervision, program service delivery, and alignment with strategic objectives. The manager is responsible for program development, data management, and fostering partnerships to ensure the program's success and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire IMPACT program and all associated teams.
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate existing and new programs and services for internal operations and community partners.
  • Work with IVPP Leadership on strategic initiatives to meet programmatic goals.
  • Supervise and support staff development to maintain a high-performing team environment.
  • Manage data collection, evaluation, and reporting for the program.
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Identify funding opportunities and write grants and reports for funders.
  • Participate in presenting program successes at conferences and prepare publications.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or another human service field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience in public speaking and group facilitation.
  • Experience managing a team of 3-5 people.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Dependable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or another human service field.
  • Licensure and ability to supervise social work or other human services staff and students.
  • 3-5 years of experience working directly with high school students.
  • Minimum of 3 years managerial experience with direct reports.
