About the position

Prime Data Centers is seeking an Implementation Manager to join our team in Denver, CO. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation of equipment and infrastructure within our data center environments, ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will work closely with various teams, including Data Center Operations, Solutions Engineering, and Sales, as well as the customer's operational teams, to coordinate and manage client installations. Your primary focus will be on project management of client installations, which typically includes the installation of IT equipment racks, electrical distribution systems, aisle containment systems, and data cable infrastructure. As an Implementation Manager, you will manage multiple projects across several data centers in your region, utilizing standard project and construction management best practices. You will be tasked with implementing customer-specified equipment and materials, reviewing and validating design and scope of work documents, and managing the procurement process. Your role will also involve maintaining communication with clients and internal stakeholders, providing regular updates on installation progress, and ensuring that all expenditures are accurately tracked and reported. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, ideally with a PMP or similar certification, and 3-5 years of experience in the data center industry. You should possess intermediate knowledge of rack, cage, electrical distribution, and data cable infrastructure, as well as advanced proficiency in Microsoft productivity tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement customer-specified equipment and material to support their data center deployment plans.
  • Review and validate customer provided design and scope of work (SOW) documents for completeness.
  • Create and distribute RFP for SOW, manage and evaluate responses, and make recommendations on preferred contractors.
  • Manage contract approvals with customers, Prime accounting team, and contractor accounting team.
  • Manage customer installations at all facilities to be completed on or before deadlines.
  • Work with contractors and suppliers to obtain the best quality execution and pricing.
  • Qualify vendors and implement the company's procurement procedures including tendering projects, using RFPs, purchase orders, and cost tracking templates.
  • Hold contractors and suppliers to set delivery dates and identify any steps in the process that are delaying installations.
  • Attend weekly meetings with all site installation managers as assigned.
  • Work closely with Sales Engineers and Sales to ensure understanding of order requirements.
  • Support various departments in material sourcing, pricing, and technical specifications.
  • Assist Solutions Engineers in ensuring Sales Orders/SOWs accurately reflect client fit-out requirements.
  • Manage, direct, and coordinate activities of internal or contracted personnel or third parties providing services or performing on-site installations.
  • Provide implementation updates and keep clients and internal stakeholders informed of installation progress.
  • Update project tracking log regularly as required and attend conference calls and meetings with clients as needed.
  • Keep accurate records for all expenditures and document actual installation costs vs budget for each completed installation.

Requirements

  • Strong project management skills, ideally a PMP or similar certification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the data center industry in design, construction, and/or fit out.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of rack, cage, electrical distribution, and data cable infrastructure.
  • Intermediate level knowledge in reading/interpreting construction plans, one-line drawings, and construction specifications.
  • Advanced level proficiency in the use of MS Productivity tools, including Teams, Word, Access, Excel, Visio & Project.
  • Strong written and verbal customer service skills.
  • Ability to track costs for all projects, using purchase orders and other tracking methods.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical facilities environment.
