The Implementation Project Manager I - HE Operations at Nelnet Business Services (NBS) plays a crucial role in managing multiple projects that span across various departments and are often regulatory, operational, or strategic in nature. This position is integral to the successful implementation of partner projects, requiring the individual to clarify and define project requirements while ensuring that all deliverables are met within the agreed timelines. The role demands a proactive approach to project management, where the Implementation Project Manager will develop a comprehensive understanding of the project development process, collaborating closely with internal managers and supervisors. Frequent communication and escalation of issues are essential to navigate the complexities of project execution. In this role, the Implementation Project Manager will utilize big picture analysis to identify efficiencies and opportunities that can enhance departmental scope, expand the customer base, and broaden the product offerings. The individual will assist management in organizing tasks, time, resources, and personnel to ensure that all project elements come together seamlessly to achieve the desired outcomes. Effective planning and organization are key, as the Implementation Project Manager will need to set priorities and adjust schedules to accommodate unexpected changes or assignments. Documentation is a critical aspect of this position, requiring the Implementation Project Manager to meticulously document all communications, action plans, processes, issues, and problems. The role also involves coordinating, leading, and participating in project meetings, as well as conducting requirements reviews and configuring system setups as necessary. Training institutions on the products being implemented is another vital responsibility, ensuring that all stakeholders are well-informed and equipped to utilize the solutions effectively. Additionally, the Implementation Project Manager will assist in creating and implementing process efficiencies identified during projects or reviews, develop workflows and procedures for new products or services, and prepare both internal and customer-facing documentation such as user guides and training manuals. A strong understanding of customer implementation needs is essential, as the Implementation Project Manager will advocate for customer priorities and build lasting relationships with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance for multiple projects and related activities that are typically multi-departmental and regulatory, operational or strategic in scope.
  • Assist with partner implementations by clarifying and defining project requirements.
  • Deliver projects within necessary and agreed upon timelines.
  • Develop working knowledge of project development processes and communicate frequently with internal managers and supervisors.
  • Utilize big picture analysis to identify efficiencies, opportunities, and strategies to increase departmental scope, customer base, and/or expansion of product set.
  • Organize tasks, time, resources, and people to create cohesive projects that produce consistent results.
  • Plan and organize work by setting, prioritizing, and adjusting schedules to accommodate sudden changes or unexpected assignments.
  • Document all communications, action plans, processes, issues, and problems thoroughly and professionally.
  • Coordinate, lead, and attend project meetings and other meetings as requested.
  • Conduct requirements review and configure system setup as needed.
  • Conduct online training with institutions on all aspects of the products being implemented.
  • Assist in creating and implementing efficiencies in processes identified during projects or process reviews.
  • Develop workflows, processes, and procedures for new products or services.
  • Prepare internal and customer-facing documentation such as user guides, training manuals, and communication templates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or commensurate experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a system analyst and/or software implementation role.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Experience preferred with SQL, HTML, XML.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with high quality standards.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and work effectively under pressure and timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills (in person, e-mail, and by phone).
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to build consensus and cooperation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, maturity, and understanding of people with a cooperative attitude.
