About the position

As an Import Logistics Specialist at United Cargo Management, Inc., you will play a crucial role in managing the importation of goods and ensuring that all logistics processes run smoothly. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and oversee the import logistics operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including suppliers, customs brokers, and internal teams, to facilitate the timely and efficient movement of goods from international locations to our facilities in Charleston, SC. In this position, you will be responsible for preparing and processing import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and customs declarations. You will also monitor shipments to ensure they are on schedule and address any issues that may arise during transit. Your attention to detail and strong organizational skills will be essential in maintaining accurate records and ensuring that all import activities comply with applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, you will be expected to analyze logistics data to identify trends and areas for improvement. This may involve collaborating with the operations team to optimize shipping routes and reduce costs. You will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with carriers and freight forwarders to negotiate rates and ensure service quality. Your ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others will be key to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
