About the position
The Imports Specialist role involves managing international shipments and ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations. The position requires expertise in CargoWise and a strong understanding of global logistics, as the specialist will coordinate various modes of transportation and work closely with freight forwarders and customs brokers to optimize shipping processes.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate air, ocean, and rail shipments using CargoWise
- Prepare and review import documents (bills of lading, invoices, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, including HTS codes and ISF filings
- Work closely with freight forwarders and customs brokers for seamless clearances
- Resolve shipment issues and maintain organized import records
- Monitor shipping costs and provide performance reports
Requirements
- 3+ years in import/export operations with CargoWise experience
- Solid knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and HTS classification
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or a related field
- Customs certification
- Mandarin language skills for working with international vendors
