About the position

The Applications Engineer at INFICON serves as the primary interface between clients and the INFICON FPS team, embodying the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. This role is pivotal in maintaining strong client relationships and addressing any issues that may arise during the deployment of applications. The Applications Engineer will collaborate with a diverse range of client stakeholders and the INFICON Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) team to ensure successful application deployment, helping clients achieve their operational objectives. Responsibilities include training end users, supporting client change management needs, testing application changes requested by clients, and adhering to project budgets and timelines. Additionally, the role offers opportunities to engage in data warehouse development and advanced data analysis, including data science and analytics. The ideal candidate will possess a robust analytical background, experience in semiconductor manufacturing, and familiarity with industrial engineering concepts. Basic knowledge of SQL is essential, and prior experience in managing software development projects is advantageous. A willingness to learn about the industry, collaborate with team members and clients, and adapt to changes is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Represent INFICON FPS to clients both on-site and through frequent remote calls.
  • Lead the entire project life cycle by developing and maintaining schedules to meet project goals, defining clear deliverables, and estimating program/project requirements based on client needs.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the FPS applications engineering team, maintaining frequent communication with the Program Manager and Commercial Manager for your sites.
  • Work with the FPS software development team to provide feedback on applications, communicate new feature requests, perform QA for new versions, and manage deployments.
  • Interface effectively with a broad range of client stakeholders, including operators, process engineers, industrial engineers, Fab managers, IT, and executives.
  • Develop training materials, provide on-site training, and update the FPS Help Site as needed.
  • Provide support during unscheduled downtime, which may require being on call for nights and weekends occasionally.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing or with a SaaS (Software as a Service) company.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with industrial engineering concepts.
  • Knowledge of SQL, especially with Oracle databases.
  • Effective communication skills and comfort in presenting to groups.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and presentation generation.
  • Self-starter with strong self-management skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
