Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety to individuals with disabilities.
• Assist individuals in developing essential living skills to maintain or increase their independence.
• Support individuals in their homes or within their community.
• Help in the development and monitoring of individual plans, hopes, and dreams.
• Maintain documentation and perform record keeping as required.
• Participate in periodic meetings and training in accordance with regulations.
• Exhibit advocacy skills expected of all staff members.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Completion of medication administration training.
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Ability to read, write, solve problems, and follow directions.
• Good decision-making skills and ability to respond to emergencies.
• Ability to recognize boundaries and exhibit patience, self-control, and flexibility.

Nice-to-haves

• CPR/First Aid certification (may be obtained after hire).
