About the position

The In-Home Support Specialist for Special Needs Youth is responsible for providing in-home services to children and adolescents with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. The role focuses on supporting the acquisition and maintenance of skills necessary for daily living and community participation, utilizing Positive Behavioral Supports and instruction in various activities of daily living.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care and support to youth with special needs, particularly those with autism.
• Assist with daily living activities (ADLs) including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Observe and document patient behavior and progress, reporting any significant changes to the appropriate team members.
• Collaborate with families and other professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Foster a positive and engaging environment through effective communication and teaching strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as psychology, special education, social work, etc.
• 1 year experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other developmental disabilities/intellectual disabilities.
• Experience implementing positive behavior supports and teaching activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Negative TB test results upon hire.
• Basic CPR/First Aid Certification.
