About the position
The In-Person AP Statistics Tutor position is a part-time, contract role focused on providing academic support to a 12th-grade student struggling with AP Statistics. The tutor will conduct in-person sessions at the student's home in Downers Grove, IL, and will also be responsible for enhancing the student's study and test-taking skills. The role offers flexibility in scheduling and the opportunity to work with additional students if hired.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person tutoring sessions for a 12th grader in AP Statistics.
- Assist the student in improving study and test-taking skills.
- Provide lessons in executive functions, metacognition, and soft skills during sessions.
- Be available for tutoring sessions 1-2 times a week, primarily in the evenings.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience.
- A college degree or current enrollment in college.
- Ability to tutor in multiple subject areas, not limited to math or English.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with high school standardized test prep (ACT/SAT).
- Familiarity with executive functions and soft skills teaching.
