About the position

Prep Academy Tutors is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Spanish Tutor to provide personalized academic support to students in DuPage County, IL. As a private in-home tutoring company, we specialize in delivering flexible and tailored tutoring programs for students from kindergarten through grade 12. Our mission is to enhance students' understanding of various subjects, with a particular focus on Spanish language skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing interactive learning strategies that cater to the individual needs of each student, ensuring a customized approach to their education. In this role, you will provide academic support based on your expertise in the state curriculum, offering supplemental assignments to promote a deeper understanding of the material. You will also engage in communication with parents or guardians to discuss student progress and provide feedback. Your responsibilities will include conducting language assessments to identify students' proficiency levels and tailoring tutoring sessions accordingly. You will engage students in conversational Spanish to improve their verbal skills and confidence in using the language, creating a positive and supportive learning environment. Responsibilities

• Provide academic support to students based on expertise and knowledge of the state curriculum.
• Provide supplemental assignments to students to help promote a greater understanding of the material.
• Provide remedial and enrichment support for students.
• Communicate with parents or guardians to discuss student progress.
• Provide a customized approach tailored to the individual needs of each student.
• Provide academic support in Spanish to students, enhancing their language skills and comprehension.
• Develop and implement interactive learning strategies and materials to facilitate the learning of Spanish.
• Conduct language assessments to identify students' proficiency levels and tailor tutoring sessions accordingly.
• Engage students in conversational Spanish to improve their verbal skills and confidence in using the language.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Valid Illinois State teaching certificate or equivalent.
• Two or more years of experience as a private or charter school classroom teacher.
• Experience as a lecturer/course instructor at an accredited U.S. University or College.
• Master's/PhD student with experience as a teaching assistant at an accredited U.S. University or College.
• Proficiency in Spanish, with native or near-native fluency.
• Experience in teaching or tutoring Spanish at various levels, from beginners to advanced.
