About the position

The In-Vehicle Cybersecurity Engineer at Ford Motor Company is responsible for developing end-to-end cybersecurity solutions for connected vehicle features. This role involves creating security specifications, supporting product development, collaborating on advanced engineering projects, and responding to security events. The engineer will play a key role in ensuring the security of global connected applications and features, contributing to the overall safety and integrity of Ford's vehicle technology.

Responsibilities

  • Development of security specifications and tools for connected vehicle features
  • Assist with architecture process creation and product development security program creation
  • Support major product programs with security needs
  • Collaborate on Advanced Engineering projects with outside partners
  • Assist Product Development in proof-of-concept projects related to security
  • Respond to security events from operational programs
  • Development of design validation methodologies for module features

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field, or comparable experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a Cyber Security position
  • 2+ years of programming experience with tools such as C/C++, C#, Python, Lua, Qt
  • 2+ years of experience with embedded Windows/QNX/Linux or microcontrollers for control systems

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow up on project deliverables
  • Familiarity with general IT or Product Security and Architecture Concepts
  • Understanding of architecture, development, and design principles
  • Experience in embedded and/or automotive systems
  • Ability to develop and maintain user documentation
  • Familiarity with Threat Modeling
  • Understanding of in-vehicle network architecture and protocols
  • Electrical or System Engineering background for module-related work
  • 3+ years of experience in Mobile Phone Application Programming
  • 3+ years of experience in penetration testing and tools
  • PKI experience on medium to large deployments
