About the position

The Income Maintenance Caseworker II position at Clay County Government is a full-time role within the Department of Social Services. The primary responsibility of this position is to assess and determine applicants' eligibility for the Medicaid program. The role requires strong attention to detail and effective communication skills to interview clients and verify information accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Determine and/or redetermine applicants' eligibility for the Medicaid program.
  • Interview clients to obtain required information and complete initial applications.
  • Verify the information obtained and determine eligibility or complete scheduled program reviews.
  • Explain program requirements and options to clients, advising or referring them to other program services as appropriate.
  • Report to an Income Maintenance Supervisor and review work through conferences and evaluations of processed cases for accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

  • A two-year Associates degree in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum is preferred.
  • One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker I, or graduation from high school with two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience, including negotiating, interviewing, and explaining information.
