About the position

The Tax Preparer and Tax Interviewer positions involve drafting tax returns for individuals and small businesses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws. The role includes interviewing clients to gather necessary information and providing guidance on tax-related queries. Candidates will receive training on tax software and are expected to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
• Interview clients in person or by phone to gather data using a pre-scripted interview sheet.
• Answer client questions regarding tax preparation and procedures.
• Conduct 'pick up' appointments to review returns with clients and address additional questions.
• Compute taxes using personal computers and consult tax law handbooks for preparation procedures.
• Explain federal and state tax laws to taxpayers and assist them in completing tax forms accurately.

Requirements

• Prior tax training and experience in tax preparation.
• Respect for tax law, business law, and company policy.
• Good understanding of personal income tax application.
• Ability to promote the goodwill and professional image of the firm.
• Strong people skills and ability to answer client questions intelligently and quickly.
• Ability to learn office procedures and policies quickly.
• Good attitude and ethical standards.
• Ability to prepare accurate returns quickly and follow through on tasks.
• Commitment to work the entire tax season.
• Current or willingness to obtain an IRS assigned PTIN.
