About the position
The Income Tax Preparer at Miramar Tax Service is responsible for preparing and completing accurate tax returns for individuals, ensuring compliance with tax laws, and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in tax preparation, who can navigate the complexities of taxes while maximizing client refunds. The position offers flexibility in scheduling and can be part-time, full-time, seasonal, or contract-based.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and complete accurate tax returns for individuals
- Gather and analyze W-2 and 1099 information and documents to ensure compliance with tax laws
- Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and exemptions for clients to maximize refunds
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering client questions, answering the phone, scheduling appointments and addressing patrons concerns
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations
- Utilize Drake Tax software to input and organize financial data
Requirements
- Previous experience in client interview, CTEC certification, or enrolled agent
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex tax concepts to clients
- Proficient in keyboarding and 10-key by touch and willingness to learn new concepts
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to accurately run front office
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Nice-to-haves
- Sales or military experience is a plus
