About the position

The Independent Facilitator/Project Manager role is designed for individuals who are passionate about helping families and individuals with developmental disabilities navigate the Self-Determination Program in California. This position involves providing expert-level service, support, and advocacy to clients, ensuring they can transition smoothly from traditional programs to self-determined living. The role is primarily remote but requires residency in Los Angeles, CA, and includes some in-person meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support families and individuals with developmental disabilities through the Self-Determination Program.
  • Conduct interviews to create Person-Centered Plans, providing education about the process and services.
  • Provide service navigation for resources available through the Regional Center and other agencies.
  • Advocate for clients with the Regional Center throughout the process.
  • Assist families in developing budgeting and spending plans.
  • Offer ongoing support to families involved in the Self-Determination Process.
  • Maintain detailed notes of meetings and manage client inquiries and documentation.
  • Simultaneously manage various high-level tasks, including document creation and coordination with agencies.

Requirements

  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must provide 3 verifiable non-family references, including 1 previous employer.
  • High degree of discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, private work environment are necessary.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and internet navigation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Experience balancing multiple tasks simultaneously; project management experience preferred.
  • Experience working with persons with developmental disabilities or relevant personal lived experience is required.
  • Experience at a California Regional Center or related agency is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Regional Center System and Self-Determination Program is beneficial.
