About the position

The Indigenous Communities Technology Transfer Specialist will coordinate and lead technical assistance teams to support projects aimed at improving the lives of individuals and communities affected by alcohol and drug use, particularly within Native communities. This role involves facilitating access to training and resources on evidence-based practices for opioid and stimulant use disorder prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction. The position requires collaboration with Tribal communities and organizations to ensure culturally informed delivery of technical assistance, and it is primarily remote with occasional travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise technical assistance teams working with Tribal communities and TOR grantees, ensuring proper staffing and communication among TA providers.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance and conduct initial assessments of needs.
  • Process technical assistance requests via a centralized system to recruit appropriate consultants for prevention, treatment, and recovery.
  • Coordinate and track progress of technical assistance requests, adhering to evaluation protocols and grant requirements.
  • Facilitate planning and communication for culturally informed technical assistance delivery.
  • Serve as project manager for technical assistance requests, scheduling meetings and maintaining communication channels.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of ORN training and TA protocols, coordinating with Tribal, state, and national partners.
  • Link requesters and team members to existing training materials and resources from the ORN repository.
  • Coordinate project activities, data management, and outcome evaluation, attending project meetings regularly.
  • Collaborate with Tribal, state, and regional agencies to increase knowledge about evidence-based practices in Tribal communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, psychology, or a related field.
  • Three years of work experience with Indigenous people and communities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in public health, psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with Indigenous people and communities, with a solid understanding of Native culture and issues.
  • Project management and technical assistance experience.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with Tribal partners and diverse stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in public health and/or technical assistance connected to Tribal communities.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder prevention, treatment, harm reduction, or recovery support.
  • Familiarity with various computer applications related to project management and educational presentations.
