About the position

The Indirect Purchasing Category Manager at J&J Snack Foods is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for indirect categories such as utilities, MRO, and facilities. This role focuses on driving cost savings, enhancing internal customer experiences, optimizing supplier performance, and improving procurement processes. The manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to manage contracts and ensure high service levels, contributing to the company's commitment to delivering quality snack foods across the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement category strategies for indirect procurement to deliver cost savings and value.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, best practices, and potential suppliers.
  • Lead the end-to-end sourcing process, including RFPs, negotiations, and supplier selection.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor supplier performance against KPIs and SLAs, and address any issues that arise.
  • Conduct regular supplier reviews and risk assessments to ensure business continuity.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and align procurement strategies with business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to departments such as MRO, IT, Marketing, HR, and Facilities.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Track and report on category spending, savings, and financial performance.
  • Develop and manage budgets for indirect categories.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in indirect procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing.
  • Proven track record of delivering cost savings and value through effective category management.
  • Experience in managing complex supplier and internal cross-functional relationships.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) preferred.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
