About the position

As an Indirects Area Manager at Bechtel Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team and supervising superintendents and craft professionals on the Thacker Pass Project, which is set to become the largest lithium resource facility in the United States. This position is based in the high desert of north-central Nevada, where you will oversee the integration of efforts among various contractors involved in the engineering and construction of the facility. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring that all craft professionals are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to perform their tasks efficiently and effectively, while adhering to project specifications, schedules, and budgets. In this role, you will be responsible for directing craft professional activities, managing work schedules, and coordinating subcontract work activities. You will engage proactively with your team to foster their development through competency assessments and feedback. Your oversight will ensure compliance with project policies, procedures, and job site rules, while also monitoring the quality of work performed. You will prepare reports and forecasts related to construction progress, workforce requirements, and expenditures, ensuring that all aspects of the project are on track. The Thacker Pass Project is not only significant for its scale but also for its commitment to sustainability. The facility is designed to recycle process water and utilize excess process heat to generate electricity, contributing to the U.S. transition to cleaner energy. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is managing a substantial procurement effort, and your role will be integral to the successful delivery of this project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of superintendents and craft professionals on the Thacker Pass Project.
  • Direct craft professional activities and work schedules, ensuring compliance with project specifications and schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontract work activities and team development to enhance productivity.
  • Engage in the development of team members through competency assessments and feedback.
  • Determine workforce requirements and prepare reports on construction progress and forecasts.
  • Monitor tool and equipment usage on the site, ensuring crafts have the necessary tools for productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all construction operations.
  • Interpret engineering design documents and coordinate engineering solutions with subcontractors and craft professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience in construction management or a related area.
