About the position

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Specialist in Industrial Engineering to lead all Industrial Engineering activities at the Richardson OCMC site. The role focuses on analyzing manufacturing system performance, applying Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve efficiency, and collaborating with project managers to execute factory modifications and enhancements. The position requires a strong background in engineering and program management, with a commitment to safety and ergonomic improvements in the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify undesirable effects and opportunities for improvement.
  • Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints.
  • Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals.
  • Create process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key metrics.
  • Participate in factory safety and ergonomic improvements.
  • Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory expansion, Manufacturing Technology insertion, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and the integration of new capabilities.
  • Partner with project managers and other functions to execute projects that modify the factory footprint, change the layout of factory equipment, and/or add new capability.
  • Support competitive bids, factory proposals, business case development for future investments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with project and/or program management ideally in a similar manufacturing environment to Raytheon.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Lean Expert or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Strong Project Management Experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
