About the position

The Industrial Appeals Hearings Judge is responsible for presiding over conferences and hearings related to various appeals under the Industrial Insurance Act and other related acts. The role involves evaluating evidence, applying rules of evidence, and issuing written decisions. Judges may work remotely but are required to conduct in-person hearings when necessary, ensuring that the hearings are held in the appropriate geographic locations.

Responsibilities

  • Preside over conferences and hearings where evidence is presented.
  • Issue written decisions resolving appeals filed under the Industrial Insurance Act and other related acts.
  • Conduct hearings primarily via video or telephone, with in-person hearings as needed.
  • Manage hearings assigned by geographic area.

Requirements

  • Must be an active or judicial member of the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA).
  • Practicing attorney for a minimum of five (5) years as a member of the WSBA or other state bar association.
