About the position

The Industrial Automation Controls Technician role at Skillwork involves traveling across the country to perform industrial maintenance with a focus on instrumentation, controls, and electrical distribution. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work with various companies while developing new skills in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute industrial maintenance tasks primarily in instrumentation, controls, and electrical distribution.
  • Perform troubleshooting and investigative tasks on PLCs, HMIs, and automated systems on manufacturing floors.
  • Conduct electrical distribution and mechanical system maintenance as needed based on operational requirements.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for maintenance tasks.
  • Read, write, and modify relay logic for automation systems.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of overall work experience in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in Automation Controls, preferably with Allen Bradley systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and modify relay logic.
  • Experience troubleshooting and setting parameters on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E standards.
  • 480v 3 phase troubleshooting experience.
  • Low voltage control wiring and troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Strong math, oral/written communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
