About the position
The Industrial Automation Controls Technician role at Skillwork involves traveling across the country to perform industrial maintenance with a focus on instrumentation, controls, and electrical distribution. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work with various companies while developing new skills in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute industrial maintenance tasks primarily in instrumentation, controls, and electrical distribution.
- Perform troubleshooting and investigative tasks on PLCs, HMIs, and automated systems on manufacturing floors.
- Conduct electrical distribution and mechanical system maintenance as needed based on operational requirements.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for maintenance tasks.
- Read, write, and modify relay logic for automation systems.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of overall work experience in a production manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in Automation Controls, preferably with Allen Bradley systems.
- Ability to read, write, and modify relay logic.
- Experience troubleshooting and setting parameters on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E standards.
- 480v 3 phase troubleshooting experience.
- Low voltage control wiring and troubleshooting experience is required.
- Strong math, oral/written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
