Meta's Reality Labs team is at the forefront of shaping the future of consumer electronics, particularly in the burgeoning fields of Augmented and Virtual Reality. As an Industrial Design Architect on the Reality Labs ID team, you will play a pivotal role in bringing next-generation hardware and experiences to life. This position requires a blend of creative problem-solving and hands-on mechanical design skills to develop products that are not only functional but also delightful and holistically considered. You will leverage your experience in designing, engineering, and shipping consumer products to collaborate with cross-discipline teams effectively. Your responsibilities will include developing ergonomic solutions and addressing complex architectural challenges, as well as creating smile-inducing mechanisms and innovative manufacturing processes. You will work closely with the ID team to ensure that the products you help create are as amazing as the experiences they enable. A deep mechanical aptitude and a high degree of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) expertise will be essential as you transition ideas from conceptual stages to actionable plans. You will need to navigate between high-level experience concepts and detailed, functional prototypes that will inform product decisions and help the team achieve what may seem impossible. In this role, you will be expected to drive rapid mechanical design iteration and exploration, pushing the boundaries of physical technology integration and manufacturing processes. Your ability to create and refine effective solutions to complex ergonomic challenges will be crucial. You will also partner closely with Product Design Engineering and other internal teams to ensure alignment and expedite project progress. Additionally, you may leverage external partners to implement novel manufacturing solutions, and you should be prepared for international travel as required.
