About the position

The Industrial Design & Engineering/CADD - CTE/ROP Instructor position at San Gabriel Valley Regional Occupational Program (SGVROP) is designed to equip high school students with essential technical skills in Industrial Design and Engineering. The instructor will utilize computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software to guide students in creating architectural or mechanical designs that adhere to industry standards. This role is pivotal in supporting architects and engineers in the development of plans for buildings and other structures, ensuring compliance with various building codes and zoning laws, while also considering cost limitations and client preferences. In this position, the instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that fosters hands-on learning experiences. The curriculum will include simulated projects that reflect real-world applications, allowing students to engage with the material actively. The instructor will also be expected to collaborate with local businesses to provide students with practical learning opportunities, enhancing their understanding of the industry and preparing them for high-demand jobs in the field. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • California teaching credential with proper authorization or verifiable industry experience for a Career Technical Education (CTE) teaching credential.
  • Minimum of three years of verifiable industry work experience in a related field.
  • Up to 48 semester units of related college coursework can substitute for up to two years of work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching or training in a classroom or workshop setting.
  • Familiarity with current trends and technologies in Industrial Design and Engineering.
