About the position
The Industrial Designer and Manufacturer position at an industry-leading company focuses on designing and manufacturing industrial foundry patterns and molds. This role combines SolidWorks CAD/CAM skills with hands-on manufacturing experience, working on unique aluminum-based projects in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Experience in making molds and foundry tooling.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and familiarity with 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machines.
- Ability to transition to other CAD/CAM environments like Autodesk PowerMILL and Autodesk Fusion360.
- Strong design skills with a hands-on approach to manufacturing.
- Design and manufacture foundry patterns, molds, and fixtures using a variety of materials including aluminum, steel, plastic, and more.
- Operate CNC vertical machining centers and manual tools.
- Convert 2D drawings into 3D CAD models and manage projects from concept to final product.
- Design simple to complex molds, including understanding parting lines, shrinkage, and machining allowances.
- Perform repairs, reworks, and inspections on molds and tooling.
- Collaborate with team members in a small business environment.
Requirements
