About the position

The Home Gear Industrial Designer at Goodbaby International is responsible for generating innovative design concepts that meet consumer needs. This role serves as a liaison between Marketing, Engineering, and external design partners, focusing on user experience, ergonomics, and the visual identity of products. The designer will utilize sketching and CAD tools to develop concepts and prototypes, ensuring that project goals are met in terms of time and cost.

Responsibilities

• Create design concepts (sketches and 3D CAD) based on consumer research or marketing requests.
• Participate in marketing research considering user needs and human factors.
• Recommend and interface with external design partners, evaluating and developing long-term business relationships.
• Review design presentations and provide feedback on engineering and design hurdles.
• Conduct project design research, including competitive analysis and understanding end-user interactions with products.
• Present design solutions through sketches, CAD models, physical mock-ups, 3D prints, and renderings.
• Develop products to the prototype stage using 3D CAD modeling software.
• Prepare concept and presentation sketches and renderings for focus groups and management presentations.

Requirements

• 3-8 years of experience in Industrial Design.
• BA or BS in Industrial Design from an accredited school.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good rapid visualization skills through sketches and renderings for concept exploration.
• Design sensitivity to home décor and experience in furniture or furniture-like products.
• Experience designing products involving user interaction and ergonomics.
• Ability to communicate design ideas using hand and digital sketches and visualization tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PowerPoint.
• Proficient with Solidworks and/or ProE Creo; experience with On-shape, Alias, Rhino is a bonus.
• Rendering experience with Keyshot, Visualize, or similar tools; ability to create render videos is a bonus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic engineering principles.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, design for manufacturing, and fit and finish.
• Experience working with and managing external design partners.
