About the position

Goodyear is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Industrial Electrician Trainees. This program is designed to provide comprehensive training and professional development for those aspiring to become skilled Industrial Electricians. As a Trainee, you will engage in a structured curriculum that encompasses various aspects of electrical maintenance and repair within our tire manufacturing facilities. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the manufacturing process by troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing tire-related machinery and equipment. You will also be responsible for maintaining safety and cleanliness throughout the facility, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Throughout the Trainee program, you will gain hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing a diverse range of equipment, ensuring optimal operating conditions and minimizing downtime. You will learn to work with machine shop equipment, electronic industrial systems, PLCs, variable frequency drives, servo drives, power distribution, instrumentation, and more. Adhering to Goodyear's safety standards, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), will be essential in your daily tasks. You will also be expected to perform various manual tasks in varying temperatures, which may include lifting materials, climbing, and working at heights. As you progress through the program, you will be tasked with installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining machines and power distribution systems, as well as interpreting blueprints and maintenance manuals. Responsibilities

  • Participate and successfully complete the Trainee program to gain knowledge and experience in maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on a diverse range of equipment to ensure optimum operating conditions and uptime.
  • Abide by safe work standards including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods, including lifting materials and working at heights.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machines and drive power distribution systems, instrumentation, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform PLC maintenance and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and mechanical issues.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, maintenance manuals, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Cut, form, thread, fit, and install piping for various systems including air, water, steam, and gas.
  • Prepare and weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions using multiple technologies.
  • Log or use a computerized work order system for repair and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime if applicable.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must provide basic tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Verifiable completion of electrician/electrical technical training and some Industrial Maintenance experience in an electrician role.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic electrician subject areas including Lockout/tagout, PLCs, AC/DC theory, motors and controls, and interpreting wiring diagrams/blueprints.
  • Experience adhering to industry-specific safety standards.
