About the position

The Industrial Electrician at Cascades is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment within the facility. This role requires expertise in reading electrical schematics, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with electrical codes. The position operates on a night shift schedule and offers opportunities for overtime, focusing on the development of talents and skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Use equipment, manuals, and drawings to troubleshoot, repair, and perform established preventive maintenance procedures including inspections and calibration of equipment.
  • Read and understand electrical drawings such as schematics, ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, and installation diagrams.
  • Install electrical and electronic equipment, components, and apparatus of industrial machinery in compliance with electrical codes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair power distribution equipment and hardware components such as outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical control circuits including AC/DC control voltage and operator interface components.
  • Use a laptop computer to load/download programs to programmable logic controllers and programmable drive units.
  • Use test equipment such as oscilloscopes and laptops to troubleshoot and repair electrical/electronic systems.

Requirements

  • Must have 5 years of industrial electrician experience.
  • Electronic certification and certification on PLCs are required.
  • Skills and experience in basic electrical safety and industrial electricity principles.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC motors and machinery, electrical troubleshooting, and the National Electrical Code.

Nice-to-haves

  • Programming PLCs is an asset.
