About the position

Cleveland Brothers, the largest Cat dealer in Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, and western Maryland, is seeking an Industrial Engine Field Technician - Petroleum. This position is ideal for automotive or diesel technicians looking for a change and an opportunity to work with the latest tooling and diagnostic equipment to repair industrial engines. The successful candidate will receive necessary training and specialty tools to excel in this role, which focuses on providing industrial engine service to the petroleum industry for our customers. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and completing technical startups of diesel and gas engines. This role requires the ability to independently diagnose and repair compression gas and diesel engines, as well as perform work on generators and component parts in various environmental and working conditions. The technician must safely assemble and disassemble equipment and component parts according to the manufacturer's specifications, repair and maintain temperature control and air compression equipment, and accurately complete service reports to provide details for work orders. Additionally, the candidate must meet the Department of Transportation physical examination and licensing requirements as mandated by law. The position may require after-hours and weekend assignments to meet customer demands and repair time schedules. The technician will report to the Wilkes Barre Industrial Engine Shop and will be dispatched for field work as needed, with the expectation to work in the shop facility when field work is not available. The candidate will also be placed on the Industrial Engine on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Independently diagnose and repair compression gas and diesel engines.
  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain diesel, gas, and marine engines.
  • Perform work on generators and component parts in various environmental and working conditions.
  • Safely assemble and disassemble equipment and component parts according to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Repair and maintain temperature control and air compression equipment.
  • Accurately complete service reports and provide details to complete work orders.
  • Meet the Department of Transportation physical examination and licensing requirements as mandated by law.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Maintain tool requirements.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalency certificate (GED).
  • Relevant work experience on industrial engines.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines.
  • Experience with generators and component parts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with marine engines.
  • Familiarity with temperature control and air compression equipment.
