About the position

As an Industrial Engineer 2 at Spirit AeroSystems, you will play a crucial role in designing and improving the efficiency of operations within our production facilities. Your primary focus will be on analyzing workflows and establishing methods that maximize the utilization of our production facilities and personnel. This position requires a keen understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to implement innovative solutions that enhance product flow and reduce costs. You will be responsible for conducting studies related to cost control, inventory management, and production record systems, and based on your findings, you will develop and implement optimized product flow strategies. In addition to your analytical responsibilities, you may also assist in establishing accident prevention measures and managing training programs for personnel involved in production operations. Your role will involve collaborating with facilities engineers to plan and design effective layouts for our manufacturing facilities. You will provide time standards and standard work procedures to the shop floor, ensuring that operations are efficient and effective. Utilizing your analytical skills, you will perform capacity analysis and line balancing to ensure that our production processes are optimized for maximum output. Your ability to perform trend analysis on shop performance measures will be essential in identifying opportunities for improvement. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, interacting with various disciplines and levels of management to drive results.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and workflow to improve efficiencies in plant and production facilities and equipment layouts.
  • Establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel and optimization of product flow.
  • Establishes or assists in establishing accident prevention measures and manages training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operations.
  • Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.
  • Develops and implements optimized product flow based on studies conducted.
  • Assists facilities engineers in the planning and design of facilities.
  • Develops and provides time standards to the shop floor as well as standard work for operations and processes.
  • Utilizes analytical skills for capacity analysis, tool and equipment utilization, and line balancing.
  • Performs trend analysis of shop performance measures to identify opportunities for improvements.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of related experience in Industrial Engineering.
  • Knowledge of IE Tools used in production such as capacity analysis, facility layout, and production improvements.
  • Understanding of a manufacturing production atmosphere.
  • Experience utilizing production metrics to make informed decisions and drive results.
  • Experience using problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to develop innovative and expedient solutions to fabrication problems.
  • Experience working in a team environment and interacting with multiple disciplines and levels of management.
  • Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in an Aircraft or Aerospace Manufacturing environment.
