About the position

Volt is immediately hiring for an Industrial Engineer in Portland, OR. As an Industrial Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our Industrial Engineering Project Management team, focusing on developing and managing project plans that align with current business priorities and initiatives. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed project plans, tracking performance against these plans, hosting structured meetings, and ensuring follow-through on action items assigned to team members. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing leadership report-out materials to communicate project status and outcomes effectively. The organization is in the process of deploying "Smartsheet" software as a project management tool, so familiarity with this software is highly desirable. Your role will also involve applying Industrial Engineering concepts such as production stability, implementing lean methodologies, and assessing readiness requirements. You will review the facilities' footprint for potential improvements and utilize root cause analysis and process improvements to enhance the flow of products and personnel throughout the site. In this position, you will primarily engage with Industrial Engineers and Site Leadership while coordinating with manufacturing, engineering, and other production-supporting organizations. We are looking for a self-starter who is a collaborative team player. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn about all aspects of the Aerospace Manufacturing world, including supply chain logistics, transportation, and the fabrication of raw materials into products and assemblies that are delivered to our assembly and installation programs worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project plans that support current business priorities and initiatives.
  • Track performance to plan and host structured meetings.
  • Follow through on actions assigned to team members and develop leadership report-out materials.
  • Utilize Smartsheet software for project management tasks.
  • Support Industrial Engineering concepts including production stability and lean methodologies.
  • Assess and perform readiness requirements for production processes.
  • Review facilities footprint for improvements and implement process improvements.
  • Engage with Industrial Engineers and Site Leadership, coordinating with manufacturing and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering field.
  • 3 or more years of experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and/or production environment.
  • Experience in Project Management software applications (preferably Smartsheet, but could include Microsoft Project, GanttPro, etc).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Systems Engineering, or Engineering Management.
  • 3 or more years of experience defining, developing, implementing, or improving production processes.
  • 3 or more years of experience working with Lean Manufacturing and knowledge of lean principles.
  • Skilled in effective time management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in structured problem solving and Microsoft Office Suite products.
