About the position

The Industrial Engineer / Cost Manager position is a dual role focused on developing, installing, and maintaining cost-effective manufacturing methods while enhancing operational performance, revenue improvement, and cost reduction. This role is critical in ensuring that the manufacturing processes are efficient and aligned with the company's financial goals. The individual will be responsible for reviewing daily and weekly performance reports, analyzing product requests, and studying new offerings to drive profitability. Additionally, the position involves assisting production teams and actively participating in performance improvement projects. In the initiation phase of new production lines, the Industrial Engineer / Cost Manager will assist in designing for cost-effective manufacturing, optimizing layouts, and improving labor efficiencies. The role requires preparing detailed layouts of plant facilities to enhance product flow and utilization. The individual will also develop, install, and maintain equitable standards, including establishing formats for standards data, crewing guides, and reconciliation reports. Work-sampling techniques will be employed to address operator utilization and performance issues. The position entails measuring variances to standards, identifying out-of-control variances, investigating their causes, and suggesting solutions. The Industrial Engineer / Cost Manager will keep track of method changes that reduce production costs and strive to meet budgeted goals. Daily and weekly labor efficiency reports will be completed to monitor performance. Staying updated on technological trends and investigating effective manufacturing methods will be essential to maintain the company's competitive edge. Driving the use of processes throughout the business and leading process map training will be part of the role, fostering a culture of continuous process improvement. The individual will assist in financial planning and cost analysis, including labor reporting and cost-to-produce analysis. Selecting appropriate work measurement techniques and measuring work contents of support labor will also be key responsibilities. The role requires collaboration with all levels of the management team to disseminate information that aids in achieving organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Review various daily and weekly performance reporting and communicate ways to better return profitability.
  • Analyze requests and study product to develop new offerings.
  • Provide assistance to production as needed.
  • Take an active role in driving performance improvement projects.
  • Participate in the initiation phase of new production lines to assist in design for cost-effective manufacturing, layout, labor, and efficiencies.
  • Prepare detailed layouts of plant facilities to optimize utilization and product flow.
  • Develop, install, and maintain equitable standards.
  • Establish the format for the development of standards data, crewing guides, reconciliation reports, and work-sampling techniques.
  • Measure variances to standards, identify out-of-control variances, investigate reasons, and suggest solutions.
  • Keep tally of method changes reducing cost of production and strive for budgeted goals.
  • Complete daily/weekly labor efficiency reports.
  • Stay abreast of technology trends and investigate effective manufacturing methods.
  • Drive the use of processes throughout the business and lead process map training.
  • Assist in financial planning and cost analysis, including labor reporting and cost-to-produce analysis.
  • Select appropriate techniques of work measurement and measure work contents of support labor.
  • Install standards and measure performance against standards.
  • Responsible for all equipment necessary to complete duties.
  • Manage labor issues relative to RE/Workload management with legal department, UFCW, Wage and Hour.
  • Educate plant personnel on work measurements and assist corporate with labor initiatives.
  • Update and maintain EASE standards and video server.
  • Work directly with all levels of the management team to disseminate information that will assist them in meeting goals.
  • Perform other projects/assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in the Food Industry beneficial.
  • Predetermined Time Software (EASE) experience beneficial.
  • Advanced computer skills (proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • General knowledge of machinery within Harvest/Fabrication floors.
  • Ability to learn quickly and make good decisions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and perform a variety of duties.
  • Good technical skills.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, both written and verbal.
