About the position

The Industrial Engineer II position at Saint-Gobain in Beaverton, MI, is responsible for the development, maintenance, and improvement of work standards management using industrial engineering tools and WCM problem-solving methodologies. The role focuses on evaluating and enhancing manufacturing processes, driving quality control, reducing waste, and improving productivity through various engineering techniques. The engineer will lead improvement projects, develop standardized work instructions, and collaborate with internal and external customers to implement and maintain site processes and products, all while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Implement methods to drive quality control and reduce waste.
  • Improve productivity through process/procedure and tooling improvements.
  • Develop and implement standardized work instructions.
  • Lead improvement projects to enhance production efficiencies and material flow.
  • Manage and troubleshoot activities related to customer complaints and maintain routed standards.
  • Conduct time studies and apply lean manufacturing principles to develop systems and instructions.
  • Work with functional teams to specify, design, procure, and implement equipment and processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Biomedical, Materials or Chemical Engineering discipline.
  • 3 or more years of progressive work experience in project management and/or industrial engineering.
  • Proficiency in applying WCM/6σ tools with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in manufacturing operations is preferred.
  • Ability to lead complex projects, ideally technology transfers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Industrial, Biomedical, Materials or Chemical Engineering or similar is preferred.
  • 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing operations.
