About the position

The Industrial Engineer position at Amazon Robotics focuses on enhancing manufacturing operations through effective workflow design, space utilization, and system efficiency. The role involves providing technical guidance to the manufacturing site leader, analyzing processes, and implementing improvements to maximize production efficiency. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across teams to solve complex problems and deliver impactful engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct studies related to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production systems, developing and implementing plans for facility modifications.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of large system designs in complex problem spaces with long-term impacts.
  • Produce new, refactor, or deprecate existing systems, influencing design and producing critical artifacts such as models and designs.
  • Identify and tackle complex problems, addressing bottlenecks and architectural complexities that hinder innovation.
  • Deliver exemplary artifacts that set standards for engineering excellence, participating in design reviews to improve delivery and align strategies.
  • Actively recruit for Amazon and participate in the hiring/interview process.
  • Research and benchmark technology against industry trends, understanding when to create new solutions versus reusing existing ones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of Industrial & Factory planning experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering, focusing on automation and robotics in a lean manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to design and build systems to solve complex problems in existing or new areas.
  • Experience performing Process Capability Analysis, Time Studies, Line balancing, and applying the Heijunka principle.
  • Experience in layout design in manufacturing and warehousing.
  • Excellent project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with CAD systems.
  • Current knowledge of industrial facility technology trends and their appropriateness for facilities.
  • Expert knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
