The Industrial Engineer position involves performing and analyzing a range of engineering functions that are essential for achieving efficient, cost-effective, and reliable manufacturing processes. This role requires the application of mathematical, physical science, and engineering technologies to optimize production and inspection operations. The engineer will assist in project management for both new and ongoing projects, working under the technical guidance of senior engineers or departmental management. A key responsibility includes coordinating and administering the work measurement system within manufacturing and inspection departments. This involves developing and applying standard time values through time studies, standard time data, and predetermined time systems. The engineer will conduct analyses of production and inspection operations to determine the most effective methods and sequences for performing necessary work, taking into account tools, materials, specifications, equipment, and the working environment. The role also entails preparing evaluation reports, analyzing data, and making recommendations for improvements in products, test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing processes. This is aimed at enhancing productivity and reducing flow time. Additionally, the engineer will develop and recommend new layouts for manufacturing and inspection departments, optimizing resource utilization and product flow. The position requires the development of base cost data for product cost estimates, including direct labor and material requirements, as well as estimating setup times, operating times, and flow times. Conducting audits to identify and correct problems, as well as measuring production levels and trends, is also part of the job. The engineer may perform special studies across all areas of plant operations and recommend preventive and corrective actions. Safety is a priority, and the engineer must conduct activities in a safe manner, adhering to established health, safety, and environmental requirements, and has the authority to stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.
