About the position

The Industrial Engineer II at Boston Scientific plays a crucial role in enhancing lean practices and continuous improvement within the organization. This position focuses on waste elimination and optimizing product, material, and information flow across various processes, including commercial production and new product development. The role involves leading improvement projects, establishing engineering standards, and promoting a culture of operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and driving improvement projects using DMAIC and PDCA methodologies to deliver measurable Value Improvement Process (VIP) savings.
  • Establishing and maintaining engineering standards for product costing, including labor optimization projects.
  • Conducting time studies and data analysis to balance work content and staffing across manufacturing lines.
  • Coordinating and leading cross-functional teams to design workstations and line layouts that enhance line flow and optimize space utilization.
  • Facilitating Kaizen events to improve quality, cost efficiency, delivery, and safety within production and business processes.
  • Leading Lean training sessions and mentoring employees in Lean concepts and best practices.
  • Promoting a culture of lean thinking and operational excellence across the site.
  • Managing and continuously improving critical tools such as Work Content Graphs and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Actively seeking new technical knowledge and best practices through benchmarking and educational opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Lean Principles, Systems, and Tools.
  • Experience with capacity analysis, problem solving, and resource optimization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in medical device manufacturing or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of Power BI/Tableau for data analysis and visualization.
  • Experience with simulation software such as Arena, Simulate, or FlexSim.
  • Six Sigma and/or Project Management certification(s).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
