About the position

The Industrial Engineer (IE) position is designed for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced team environment. This role requires collaboration across various departments including Quality, Program Management, Logistics, Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing. The primary responsibility of the IE is to execute change through process improvement methodologies, assist in implementing the organization's Lean strategy, and oversee project initiatives. The position also involves training and mentoring key resources to foster a culture of continuous improvement. In this role, the IE will be tasked with planning and overseeing the layout of equipment, conducting studies in Operations Value Stream to maximize workflow and space utilization, and ensuring both efficiency and workplace safety. The IE will interface with quality, manufacturing engineers, planning, and production teams to integrate new products or processes into the existing production area effectively. Utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies, the IE will support the Operations Value Stream from Receiving to Shipping. Key responsibilities include developing and executing Value Stream Maps in alignment with the Lean Operations Roadmap, leading and participating in Kaizen Events and A3 projects, and maintaining documentation that supports production flow. The IE will also be responsible for conducting time studies, sequence analysis, and capacity-labor analysis to ensure that production work is balanced to Cycle Time and meets TAKT time requirements. Additionally, the role involves defining and optimizing material delivery to assembly lines and supporting failure analysis to develop effective countermeasures in collaboration with production and quality/engineering departments. The IE will also provide formal and informal training, coaching, and share best practices to create an atmosphere conducive to the development of new concepts and methods that support continuous improvement in the department.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with quality, manufacturing engineer, planning, and production to integrate new products or processes into the existing production area.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies to support Operations Value Stream from Receiving to Shipping.
  • Develop and execute Value Stream Maps according to the Lean Operations Roadmap.
  • Assist and support the current 5S program.
  • Lead, participate, and support Kaizen Events and A3 projects.
  • Develop shop floor photo documentation and standard work instructions in collaboration with manufacturing engineers, logistics, and production.
  • Maintain the requirement of new tools and fixtures in the routings for final assembly.
  • Develop and maintain routings for final assembly and documentation that supports production flow.
  • Conduct time studies, sequence analysis, and capacity-labor analysis to ensure production work is balanced to Cycle Time and meets TAKT time.
  • Define and optimize material delivery to assembly lines and layout of production material and equipment for Operations Value Stream.
  • Support failure analysis and develop effective countermeasures with production and quality/engineering departments.
  • Provide formal and informal training, coaching, and share best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • 5-10 years of related experience with a combination of Associate's Engineering degree education.
  • 6-8 years of experience in Production, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or Warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of industrial engineering processes, concepts, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing planning processes, concepts, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and AutoCAD required.
  • SAP knowledge is required.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
