About the position

The Continuous Improvement Engineer at High Concrete Group is responsible for enhancing operational performance and reducing waste, delays, and costs within the manufacturing process. This role involves analyzing plant layouts, fabrication methods, and material flow, while implementing innovative engineering solutions to maximize efficiency. The position is integral to supporting manufacturing initiatives and capital project management, ensuring that the company maintains its status as a leading producer in the precast concrete industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform industrial engineering assignments to improve operating performance and reduce waste, delays, and costs.
  • Analyze current plant and equipment layout, fabrication methods, and material flow and handling.
  • Research and implement changes based on leading-edge technologies and engineering principles.
  • Lead manufacturing initiatives to maximize material, equipment, and personnel efficiencies.
  • Support efforts to meet manufacturing planning schedule requirements by improving existing facilities layout and production methods.
  • Support initiatives associated with capacity expansion and technology upgrades.
  • Manage capital projects by identifying problems, recommending solutions, and justifying costs.
  • Participate in evaluating and implementing co-worker ideas generated through continuous improvement efforts.
  • Identify and introduce new engineering concepts and technologies to improve operational performance.
  • Review and improve manufacturing standard operating procedures and maintain an audit system for long-term viability.
  • Collaborate with various departments to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.
  • Participate in the development of new or improved products and foster teamwork among co-workers.
  • Provide regular progress reports on project status and attend operational meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related degree is required.
  • 4 years of progressive process improvement projects experience.
  • Experience in steel fabrication, precast concrete, or heavy construction/manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience in line layout or design for manufacturing projects is required.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills are essential.
  • Formal Lean training is preferred.
  • Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to independently identify, research, plan, and implement projects to improve safety or reduce waste.
  • Experience in continuous improvement is required.
