About the position

The Industrial Engineering Intern at K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc. is designed for Junior and Senior college students seeking hands-on experience in the retail and grocery business. This 12-week full-time internship program focuses on operational analysis and continuous improvement, allowing interns to work on meaningful projects while receiving mentorship and support. Interns will present their projects to the Executive Leadership team at the conclusion of the program, gaining valuable insights and experience in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Study the retail and grocery business as part of the Continuous Improvement team.
• Complete an operational analysis project using human relation skills and Lean work design.
• Create reports and dashboards to present findings and recommendations.
• Participate in tours of Food City retail locations and the distribution center.
• Collaborate with fellow interns and participate in social opportunities.
• Assist with a grand opening event for a new store.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in Industrial Engineering or a relevant field.
• Recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering or a relevant field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information.
• Self-initiative and ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formatting, reference functions, and pivot tables.
