About the position

The Industrial Engineer Intern position at Hitachi Rail involves supporting product safety and manufacturing processes while serving as a technical advisor to suppliers. The intern will participate in product development projects and assist in implementing manufacturing process improvements. This role is designed for students pursuing a degree in engineering, providing hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support or resolve issues related to product safety and manufacturing production processes.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to suppliers.
  • Participate in product development projects as a manufacturing representative.
  • Assist colleagues to ensure the success of tasks.
  • Research, plan, and implement manufacturing process improvements or new processes.
  • Refine and cost reduce manufacturing processes and products.
  • Manage, organize, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Create written instructions and provide clear oral instructions.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft 360 applications including Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Experience working with or creating BOMs and Routings for components.
  • Demonstrated experience within a manufacturing environment such as printed circuit board manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, casting, forging, machining, tooling, and fixture design.
  • Must be available to work at least 40 hours per week onsite.

  • Knowledge of LEAN/Sigma continuous improvement methodology.
  • Demonstrated experience creating visual work instructions.
