About the position

The L&D Industrial Engineer at Terumo Medical Corporation plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Logistics & Distribution Operations. This position is responsible for leading process management and improvement initiatives across various operational areas. The engineer will develop and implement technical solutions aimed at optimizing space, labor, and equipment, ensuring that the services provided meet world-class standards. This hands-on role involves leading mid-level to complex projects, providing guidance to operations leaders, and directly interfacing with different levels of the operations team to drive improvements. In this position, the engineer will maximize safety, service, quality, and productivity by employing best practices in facility layout, operating methods, material handling concepts, and performance measurements. The role requires evaluating current processes to identify and recommend improvement opportunities that enhance throughput, reduce waste, and improve quality and safety. The engineer will track the results of project implementations and develop case studies for both internal and external customers, ensuring that the outcomes are quantifiable and aligned with Terumo Medical Corporation's performance objectives. Additionally, the L&D Industrial Engineer will be responsible for developing process flow and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) analyses to capture current operations and identify areas for improvement. They will direct and facilitate LEAN thinking and behaviors throughout the operations, review labor performance and reporting methods, and produce CAD layouts and 3D modeling simulations to design the future state of the Logistics & Distribution Operations. The engineer will also assist the OPex Leader and Distribution Center Managers in implementing continuous improvement and cost leadership strategies, providing senior management with data and recommendations for optimal resource utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize safety, service, quality, and productivity throughout operations using best practice techniques.
  • Lead the evaluation of current processes to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Track results of project implementations and develop case studies for internal and external customers.
  • Conduct analysis activities and needs assessments to meet performance objectives.
  • Develop process flow and VSM analysis to capture current operations and identify improvements.
  • Direct and facilitate LEAN thinking and behaviors throughout operations.
  • Review labor performance and reporting methods to ensure productivity targets are met.
  • Produce and maintain CAD layouts and 3D modeling simulations for future operations design.
  • Assist OPex Leader and Distribution Center Managers in continuous improvement and cost leadership strategies.
  • Provide senior management with data and recommendations for optimal resource utilization.

Requirements

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering or related operations discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Industrial Engineer in Distribution Operations.
  • Certification in Six Sigma Lean Methodologies.
  • Experience with multi-site operations preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Extreme proficiency in MS Office Suite products including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other 3D Design Software preferred.
  • Strong project management, organizational skills, and analytical abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multi-site operations preferred.
