About the position

As an Industrial Engineer at 3M's distribution center, you will play a crucial role in optimizing our distribution and logistics operations. This position involves analyzing existing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions that enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You will collaborate closely with teams across various departments to develop and refine labor management programs, build engineered standards, streamline workflows, and support the deployment of automation technologies. Your responsibilities will also include data analysis and process modeling to ensure that our operations align with industry best practices and our company's strategic goals. This role requires a strong foundation in industrial engineering principles, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. In this position, you will have the opportunity to support automation projects by assisting in the design and implementation of automation systems within distribution centers, contributing to efforts that enhance efficiency and productivity. You will participate in the development and maintenance of labor management programs, including data collection, analysis, and reporting to support workforce optimization. Additionally, you will collaborate with senior engineers to identify process inefficiencies and support the execution of continuous improvement projects aimed at cost reduction and operational excellence. Gathering, analyzing, and reporting on key performance metrics related to distribution center operations will be essential, as you will provide actionable insights to drive decision-making and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize distribution and logistics operations by analyzing existing processes and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Implement solutions that enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness in distribution centers.
  • Collaborate with teams across various departments to develop and refine labor management programs.
  • Build engineered standards and streamline workflows to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support the deployment of automation technologies within distribution centers.
  • Conduct data analysis and process modeling to align operations with industry best practices and strategic goals.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of automation systems to enhance productivity.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of labor management programs, including data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to identify process inefficiencies and support continuous improvement projects.
  • Gather, analyze, and report on key performance metrics related to distribution center operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in industrial/manufacturing engineering, operations research, statistics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a labor management program engineering labor standards within a distribution or fulfillment center.
  • Three (3) years of experience in AutoCAD or similar CAD tool.
  • Three (3) years of experience in Lean Six Sigma methodology.
  • Three (3) years of experience in SQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with distribution automation technologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL, analytics, simulation, and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems and processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop innovative engineering solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present ideas and influence decision-making.
