About the position

The Industrial Engineer for Labor Management Systems at Walgreens is responsible for maintaining and implementing Engineered Labor Standards for the assigned distribution center. This role involves managing an Analyst who supports the program, ensuring that all labor standards in the Labor Management System (LMS) are developed and maintained effectively. The position requires the individual to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are up to date and that any process changes are reflected in both the LMS and SOPs. The Industrial Engineer will be accountable for reporting, training, and gain share tracking within the Distribution Center, working closely with DC leadership on program performance and budget planning. In addition to these responsibilities, the Industrial Engineer will assist in rolling out the LMS project by providing comprehensive Industrial Engineering labor standard services for the assigned Distribution Center Operations. This role requires collaboration with Corporate and Distribution Center leadership to develop and meet strategic goals while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The individual will champion the LMS with all levels throughout the Distribution Center and collaborate with Industrial Engineers in other distribution centers to identify and implement improvements. The position also involves monitoring and analyzing existing processes to identify opportunities for improvement and ensuring that operational improvements are implemented effectively. The Industrial Engineer will manage a team responsible for ensuring data accuracy and supporting DC and HR staff with LMS-related issues, questions, and training. The role may require travel to support the rollout of the LMS in the home distribution center and other centers within the network. The Industrial Engineer will work in alignment with other DC Industrial Engineers and leadership on LMS system changes, gain share programs, and financial tracking, partnering with Distribution Center management and the LEAN team to identify and implement process improvement projects focused on cost reduction, safety, and quality improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and implement Engineered Labor Standards for the assigned distribution center.
  • Monitor and analyze existing processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Accountable for labor management system changes and updates.
  • Manage a team ensuring data accuracy and support for DC and HR staff with LMS issues.
  • Support the rollout of the LMS in the home DC and other DCs within the network.
  • Collaborate with other DC Industrial Engineers and leadership on LMS system changes and gain share programs.
  • Partner with Distribution Center management and LEAN team to identify and implement process improvement projects.
  • Participate in daily management planning meetings and long-term operational planning.
  • Provide advice, analysis, and recommendations to assist in planning and implementing process improvements.
  • Develop engineered solutions to improve cost productivity, inventory productivity, product availability, or safety in the supply chain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in Manufacturing, Pharmacy, Distribution, or Supply Chain Engineering OR High School/GED and at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing, Pharmacy, Distribution, or Supply Chain Engineering.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a continuous improvement role in a Manufacturing, Distribution, or Supply Chain environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in calculating and managing discrete labor standards using PMTS, MOST, and/or MSD.
  • Experience in using Labor Management Systems such as Blue Yonder/JDA/Red Prairie.
  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel for calculating and tracking labor management standards.
