About the position

The Industrial Engineer will play a crucial role in the scale-up and improvement of products being produced at our Cedar Rapids facility. This position requires a proactive individual who can collaborate across various organizational functions, including Design Engineering, Program Office, Operations, and Quality Engineering, to ensure that project milestones are met effectively. The successful candidate will be responsible for balancing the needs of different stakeholders while providing innovative solutions to meet yield targets and part performance requirements. In this role, the Industrial Engineer will identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product performance, reducing product and process variation, and lowering product costs. This involves providing cross-functional leadership and working closely with all levels of staff, from the production floor to senior leadership, to ensure that products meet all necessary quality standards while adhering to program timelines. To excel in this position, the candidate must possess excellent organizational and time management skills, enabling them to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential, as the candidate will need to apply their engineering expertise to resolve complex issues with minimal supervision. Adaptability and the ability to shift focus quickly are also vital attributes for success in this dynamic environment. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are necessary to thrive in this team-oriented role.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize data mining and analysis to leverage past lessons and incorporate improvements on new products
  • Drive projects pertaining to yield, manufacturability, specification alignment, testing, and process capability
  • Ability to drive small to medium scale projects to completion
  • Design tooling and fixtures for production, and adapt machine or equipment design to production conditions
  • Layout for assembly and materials handling
  • Provides guidance to design on drawing, prints, schematics, and BOMs
  • Implement statistical process control
  • Complete detailed technical reports and technical presentations
  • Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement activities
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status)
  • Continuous improvement / Root Cause Analysis experience
  • Manufacturing experience
