About the position

ConMet is seeking a dedicated Industrial Engineer to join our team at our injection molding plant located near the scenic Asheville, North Carolina. This position plays a crucial role in providing Industrial Engineering support for the efficient movement of products through the plant and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for planning, directing, and analyzing processes for both new and existing manufacturing operations, ensuring that we meet our quality and customer expectations. In this role, the Industrial Engineer will create and maintain essential manufacturing process documentation, which includes process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work procedures, cycle time analysis, and line balancing. Additionally, the engineer will be tasked with maintaining project documentation and timelines to support both internal and external customers effectively. A significant aspect of this position involves understanding and conducting cycle time studies for all processes and machine developments, as well as performing Value Stream Mapping for various processes. The Industrial Engineer will utilize Lean Manufacturing principles, Kaizen methodologies, Six Sigma techniques, and root cause analysis to formulate and support corrective actions and continuous improvement activities. Furthermore, the role includes supporting the quoting and acquisition process for new equipment and modifications, focusing on injection molding, secondary operations, material flow, and assembly processes. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for developing and designing robust manufacturing concepts aimed at simplifying and improving manufacturing processes, ensuring adherence to best practices and lean manufacturing concepts to achieve or exceed quality and customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis and line balancing.
  • Create and maintain project documentation.
  • Maintain project timelines and deliverables to support internal and external customers.
  • Understand and conduct cycle time studies for all processes and/or machine development.
  • Understand and conduct Value Stream Mapping for various processes.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to formulate/support corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support quoting and acquisition process for new equipment and equipment modifications, involving injection molding, secondary and gaging operations, material flow and assembly processes.
  • Develop and design robust manufacturing concepts to simplify/improve manufacturing processes to ensure best practice and lean manufacturing concepts to achieve or exceed quality and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of experience in assembly and material handling, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Methodology, Time & Motion Studies, Process Flow, Value Stream Mapping, DFA/DFM, Line Balancing, Automation, MES.
  • Yellow or Green Belt Certification in 6 Sigma or Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Project Management certification a plus.
  • Experience in SAP or another MRP system required.
