By joining our manufacturing and distribution team, you will assist the Engineering Department in planning and implementing facility-related improvements and upgrades, as well as introducing new systems and technologies to ensure that distribution center (DC) equipment and infrastructure operate at sustained, optimal efficiency. As an Industrial Engineer, you will be based at our Memphis Distribution Center located at 101 Airport Industrial Drive, Southaven, MS 38671. Your role will involve implementing DC-based improvement projects that result in a safer, more efficient work environment. You will follow, monitor, and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and policies. Developing a fundamental understanding of DC operations, LEAN principles, and problem-solving techniques will be essential. You will work closely with upper management, supervisors, external suppliers, contractors, and equipment manufacturers to contribute to completing projects on time and within or below budget. Additionally, you will assist in coordinating requirements for new designs, product lines, surveys, and maintenance schedules for warehouse equipment and automation. Your responsibilities will also include performing various duties such as writing standard work, training on standard work, assisting supervisors, developing a Continuous Improvement program, supporting new start-up initiatives, and performing data extractions, reports, and analysis. You may also be required to travel to other Siemens facilities to assist with the implementation of new processes.

Responsibilities

  • Write standard work and train on standard work.
  • Assist supervisors and develop a Continuous Improvement program.
  • Support new start-up initiatives and perform data extractions, reports, and analysis.
  • Travel to other Siemens facilities to assist with the implementation of new processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others inside and outside the department.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and independent worker who can take limited direction while making good decisions in the workplace.
  • Evidence of being a creative problem solver/implementer with cost sensitivities.
  • Computer skills required, including experience with warehouse management systems.
  • 6 months or more experience working in a high-volume distribution center or large retail operation.
  • Detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
