About the position

As an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer for the Light Rail Production line at Siemens, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in safety, schedule, and budget adherence through Lean Manufacturing principles. This role involves technical problem-solving in collaboration with the production core team, focusing on standard and non-standard work, tooling, material flow, and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement of safety, schedule, and budget adherence using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Lead technical problem-solving efforts for standard and non-standard work, tooling, material flow, and safety.
  • Review engineering drawings and 3D models to understand manufacturing process requirements.
  • Define key production work steps, sequences, and durations for production work orders.
  • Generate and improve material flow paths and logistical needs for production.
  • Prepare future production floor layouts to meet planned takt time and schedule.
  • Prepare standardized work instructions and set up stations with proper fixtures and tooling.
  • Develop detailed specifications for jigs and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
  • Lead manufacturing improvements and complex process changes by developing a core team and reporting to a steering committee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, excluding internships.
  • Strong project management skills, including developing project plans, schedules, budgets, and ROI calculations.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles.
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving and countermeasure implementation.
  • Understanding of tooling and fixture design for manufacturing, impacting dimensional accuracy and quality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Over 5 years of experience in planning and supporting new production lines in low-speed production environments.
  • Work experience in the rail industry, preferably in light rail or heavy rail production.
  • One or more relevant certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Certification, or Certified Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Extensive experience in customer service, maintenance, or aftermarket businesses within the rail industry.
