About the position

Anduril Industries is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our Manufacturing team, which is dedicated to rapidly iterating and building cutting-edge defense hardware. This includes a variety of systems such as static equipment, moving ground equipment, sensors, undersea vehicles, and flight vehicles. The Industrial Engineer will play a crucial role in optimizing manufacturing operations to achieve best-in-class quality, reliability, speed, and asset utilization while adhering to critical customer deployment and internal development timelines. This position requires a data-driven approach to designing production lines and associated manufacturing processes, necessitating active collaboration with various teams including Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Business Operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a history of holistic ownership in solving operational challenges with innovative solutions in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment. Flexibility and a willingness to support various aspects of the manufacturing process are essential to ensure that products are built and shipped under stringent quality standards. The role involves owning the metrics, KPIs, and reporting associated with monitoring production line health and efficiency, as well as producing and maintaining tools and reports to communicate the health of manufacturing operations across products. Additionally, the Industrial Engineer will be responsible for designing new production lines and workstation layouts, proactively identifying imbalances and bottlenecks, and ensuring that stakeholders have the necessary inputs to make informed decisions across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Own the metrics, KPIs, and reporting associated with monitoring production line health and efficiency, such as cycle time, throughput rate, capacity, utilization, first pass yield, and all Quality metrics.
  • Produce and maintain tools and reports to communicate the health of manufacturing operations across products to Manufacturing leads and across the organization.
  • Own the design of new production lines and workstation layouts for both low rate and full-rate production, leveraging a data-driven approach using tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, and Line Balancing techniques.
  • Proactively identify imbalances and bottlenecks caused by line layout, parts shortages, staffing shortages, and other production constraints; flag constraints with the appropriate owners across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality and drive to resolution.
  • Own the reporting and analysis of manufacturing health and ensure that stakeholders have the inputs they need to make decisions across Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Growth.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a high-rate manufacturing environment in either a production or supply chain-type role where complex mechanical and/or electrical assemblies were built with heavy data utilization.
  • Experience managing and organizing large capex budgets and creating a Standard Capex approval process.
  • Factory design and setup experience, including Value Stream mapping, Flow lines, continuous flow, one piece flow, and workstation design.
  • Material Flow design experience, including pull systems, Kanban, Min/max calculations, part presentation to operator, tote bin packaging, and lineside racking.
  • Experience with digital systems, specifically using Siemens 'Plant Simulation' and 'Process Simulation' software to model production lines and run production scenarios.
  • Demonstrated ability to own a value chain from start to finish, coordinating among multiple internal and external parties to achieve on-time deliveries under stringent quality standards.
  • Prior knowledge and interaction with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for production operations.
  • Prior knowledge of NetSuite or a similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and implementation.
  • Subject matter expert in material flow systems.
  • Strong technical ability to read technical documentation such as drawings and CAD data, with an understanding of various hardware manufacturing processes for electronics and mechanical components.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience interacting with SQL databases for tracking production and inventory-related metrics.
  • Experience with production simulation software (Siemens/PlantSim/ProcessSim).
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in industrial, mechanical/aerospace/manufacturing, electrical, or computer engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in either a production or supply chain-type role.

Benefits

  • Platinum Healthcare Benefits: 100% coverage for medical, dental, and vision for employees and 90% for dependents.
  • Private Medical Insurance (PMI) for UK roles, fully covered by Anduril.
  • Private health plan through Bupa for AUS roles, fully subsidized by Anduril.
  • Basic Life/AD&D and long-term disability insurance 100% covered by Anduril.
  • Generous company holiday calendar including a holiday hiatus in December and competitive PTO plans.
  • 16 weeks of paid Caregiver & Wellness Leave.
  • Family Planning & Parenting Support including fertility, adoption, and gestational carrier coverage.
  • Free mental health resources 24/7 including therapy and life coaching.
  • Professional development stipend available to all employees.
  • Daily meals and provisions in many offices.
  • Company-funded commuter benefits based on region.
  • Relocation assistance depending on role eligibility.
