About the position

As an Industrial Engineer at Actalent, you will play a crucial role in enhancing production efficiency and driving continuous improvement within our manufacturing processes. Your primary responsibilities will include interpreting and communicating production scrap, labor, and overtime OEE reports, providing actionable recommendations to product teams and stakeholders to foster focused problem-solving initiatives. You will be expected to promote and drive continuous improvement by developing measurable metrics that extend beyond standard production reports and goal charts, utilizing various Six Sigma and Lean tools to identify and address production challenges effectively. In this position, you will establish, monitor, and maintain manufacturing routing rates by analyzing designed or conceptual production processes and operations, ensuring accurate documentation of labor costs. You will also review monthly labor history reports and OEE data, implementing improvements to enhance production processes and operations. Additionally, you will create and maintain capacity models to optimize equipment utilization, ensuring that production capabilities align with operational demands. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will communicate directly and indirectly with commercial, sales, and engineering teams regarding new product launches and capacity projects. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining essential documentation, including flowcharts, routings, work instructions, routing cards, and customer-specific documents, adhering to established standards. Furthermore, you will work indirectly with the Design group on Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFEMA) and engage with packaging suppliers to understand customer packaging design requirements, facilitating the design and creation of appropriate packaging materials.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and communicate production scrap, labor, and overtime OEE reports by giving recommendations for improvement to product teams and others to create focused problem solving.
  • Promote and drive continuous improvement by creating measurables beyond production reports and goal charts to pinpoint production problems using various 6 sigma and lean tools.
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain rates for manufacturing routings by studying designed or conceptual production processes and operations to accurately document labor costs.
  • Review monthly labor history reports/OEE and/or make improvements to the production process or operation.
  • Create and maintain capacity models for effective utilization of equipment.
  • Communicate both directly and indirectly with commercial, sales, and engineering teams for new product launches and capacity projects.
  • Create and maintain flowcharts, routings, work instructions, routing cards, and complete customer-specific documents as required per standards.
  • Indirectly work with the Design group on DFEMAs.
  • Understand customer packaging design requirements and work directly with packaging suppliers to design/define/create packaging materials.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of industrial engineering experience (5 years ideally)
  • 2 years in the automotive industry
  • Experience utilizing CAD software for plant layouts
  • Self-driven
